For example,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Subject lines with 35 or few characters outperformed\u00c2\u00a0longer subject lines by about 25%.\u00c2\u00a0 While there are merits to longer copy on web pages or even in email messages themselves, the consensus\u00c2\u00a0continues to be that shorter subject lines improve results.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Given the way that\u00c2\u00a0virtually all email programs\u00c2\u00a0display messages,\u00c2\u00a0people\u00c2\u00a0generally use the &#8216;From&#8217; address and the subject line to\u00c2\u00a0evaluate which\u00c2\u00a0emails to delete, read next, etc.\u00c2\u00a0 Using 35 characters as a limit forces us to communicate why the email is relevant in a very concise manner.<\/li>\n<li>While the vast majority of opens occur within the first 24 hours of a camping being launched,\u00c2\u00a0emails continue to be opened months after they were originally sent.\u00c2\u00a0 Beyond making sure that you don&#8217;t delete pages or images\u00c2\u00a0relating to\u00c2\u00a0older campaigns, you should also consider updating pages that have expired offers with updated specials or content that is no longer relevant with\u00c2\u00a0new information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, Mailer Mailer released their 1st Half of 2007 Email Metrics Report.\u00c2\u00a0 While\u00c2\u00a0we need to continually test what works best\u00c2\u00a0in our particular situation and not rely solely on industry averages, the report did contain some interesting information that help serve\u00c2\u00a0as best practices.
